1. Introduction

Mathlon ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share and protect your information when you use our mobile application Mathlon (the "App"). Please read it carefully. By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

2. Information We Collect

Guest Use

You can use the App without creating an account. When you start, we create an anonymous user identifier so your progress can be saved and synced. Guests may choose a username (3–20 characters) to appear on leaderboards.

Account Information

If you sign in with Google or Apple (Apple Sign-In is available on iOS), we receive from that provider:

  • A user identifier
  • Display name
  • Email address
  • Profile photo URL (if available)

When a guest signs in, the guest account is upgraded and the existing progress is kept.

Learning Progress and Game Data

  • Lesson and section progress, accuracy, timestamps and questions queued for review
  • Totals such as questions answered, correct answers and study time
  • XP, level, coins, hearts, badges, cosmetic items for Max and other counters
  • Daily streak, quests and league tier
  • The month in which you used your free Mathlon Pro streak repair

Settings

  • Selected exam, grade and target exam year
  • Sound, haptics and narration preferences
  • Daily reminder time

Purchases and Subscriptions

Mathlon Pro is an optional subscription. Purchases are processed by the app store you use (the Apple App Store, or Google Play where Mathlon Pro is offered); we never receive your payment card details. Our subscription service provider, RevenueCat, receives:

  • Your App user identifier (the same ID used for your account or guest session)
  • Transaction and receipt information: the plan, purchase, renewal and expiry dates, trial status, store country and currency
  • Your subscription status and purchase history
  • Device information such as device model, operating system, App version and language

We do not send your name or email address to RevenueCat. Your Mathlon Pro status is read from RevenueCat and is not stored in your profile, except that the leaderboard shows a PRO badge next to subscribers.

Usage Analytics

We use Firebase Analytics (Google) to understand how the App is used. It records screens viewed, the App version and a few events such as signing in, signing up, signing out, starting a guest session and deleting an account, together with device information like device model, operating system and approximate region.

Crash Reports

We use Firebase Crashlytics (Google) to receive reports when the App crashes. A report contains technical details such as the error, the device model, operating system and App version. Crash reports are not linked to your name or email address.

Device Information

  • Device type and operating system
  • Identifiers used by Firebase and RevenueCat for authentication, analytics, crash reporting and purchases
  • Network connection status

3. Leaderboards

Weekly and all-time leaderboards show your display name or username, profile photo (if any), XP, league tier and, if you subscribe, a PRO badge. This information is visible to other users of the App. If you do not want your real name to appear, continue as a guest and choose a username.

4. How We Use Your Information

  • To create and manage your account or guest session
  • To save your progress and sync it across your devices
  • To tailor topics and difficulty to the exam you choose
  • To run leagues and leaderboards
  • To provide Mathlon Pro, restore your purchases and check your subscription status
  • To send the daily reminder you set (scheduled on your device)
  • To show update prompts when a new version is required
  • To understand usage, fix crashes and improve the App

We do not sell your personal information, we do not show ads, and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.

5. Data Storage and Security

  • Firebase Cloud Firestore: cloud storage hosted by Google, in a European multi-region
  • Local device storage: your progress is stored on your device so the App works offline

We use appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your information. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or of electronic storage is 100% secure.

6. Third-Party Services

  • Firebase (Google): authentication, Cloud Firestore, Analytics, Crashlytics, Cloud Messaging and Remote Config. Remote Config is used only to check for required updates. Google Privacy Policy

  • Apple App Store and Google Play: for processing subscription payments, under their own terms and privacy policies.
  • RevenueCat: for managing subscriptions and restoring purchases. RevenueCat Privacy Policy
  • Hugging Face: if you turn on narration, the App downloads its offline voice pack from Hugging Face's servers, which receive standard request data such as your IP address. No personal data is sent. Hugging Face Privacy Policy

The App shows no ads. Coins and shop items are earned by playing and cannot be bought with real money; the only paid product is the optional Mathlon Pro subscription.

7. Permissions

Notifications: used for the optional daily reminder. You can turn it off in the App or in your device settings.

Internet access: used to sign in, sync progress, load leaderboards, check your subscription and download the voice pack.

8. Data Retention

We keep your information while your account or guest session is in use. When you delete your account, your leaderboard entries are removed right away and your cloud data is permanently deleted after 30 days. Purchase and subscription records are kept by the app store and RevenueCat as needed for billing, tax and accounting, under their own policies. Weekly leaderboards are created per week, and inactive data may be removed over time.

9. Your Rights and Choices

Delete your account: in the App, go to Settings > Account > Delete account. This closes your account, removes your leaderboard entries right away, erases the progress on your device and permanently deletes your cloud data after 30 days. Deleting your account does not cancel a Mathlon Pro subscription; cancel it in your App Store or Google Play account settings. You can also request deletion by email.

Reset progress: you can reset the progress stored on your device from Settings.

Access and correction: depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or Turkey's KVKK), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your data and to object to its processing. Email us to make a request.

10. Children's Privacy

Mathlon is made for students preparing for school and university entrance exams, typically aged 13 to 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country) without parental consent. Younger students should use the App with a parent or guardian, preferably as a guest. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

11. International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own by our service providers. Where required, these transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the new version on this page and update the "Last Updated" date.
