Meva ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application Meva (the "App"). Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

Account Information

When you create an account using Google Sign-In or Apple Sign-In, we may collect:

  • Display name
  • Profile photo URL

Profile Data

Information you voluntarily provide to customize your profile:

  • Display name
  • Bio
  • Profile image

User-Generated Content

Content you create within community features:

  • Posts and stories
  • Direct messages
  • Comments and other content

Spiritual Activity Data

Data you voluntarily record within the App:

  • Prayer tracking entries
  • Meditation session logs
  • Quran reading progress
  • Dhikr counts
  • Dua preferences
  • Habit tracking data
  • Achievement progress

Automatically Collected Information

  • Usage Data: Feature usage patterns and session duration
  • Device Information: Device type, operating system, unique identifiers, and network status
  • Location Data: When using the Qibla compass feature only - processed on-device and not stored on our servers
  • Analytics Data: Firebase Analytics (anonymized)
  • Crash Reports: Firebase Crashlytics

Information Collected by Third Parties

Firebase (Google): We use Firebase for authentication, data storage, analytics, crash reporting, and push notifications. Firebase may collect authentication tokens, user identifiers, analytics data, crash reports, and push notification tokens.

RevenueCat (In-App Purchases): When you make a purchase, RevenueCat collects transaction identifiers, subscription status, and purchase history.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Create and manage your user account
  • Provide spiritual wellness features (prayer tracking, meditation, Quran reading, dhikr counter, habit journeys)
  • Enable community features (stories, posts, direct messages, social feed)
  • Calculate Qibla direction on your device
  • Send push notifications (opt-in only)
  • Process in-app purchases and manage subscriptions
  • Improve the App through anonymized analytics
  • Monitor app stability through crash reporting

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored using:

  • Firebase Cloud Firestore: User profiles, spiritual activity data, and community content
  • Firebase Storage: Uploaded media (profile photos, community images)
  • Local Device Storage: Cached data and audio files

We implement appropriate security measures including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and encryption at rest. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure.

5. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

Community content you create is visible to other users according to your sharing settings. Direct messages are private between participants.

We may share your information with law enforcement or government authorities if required by law or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others.

6. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you services.

Community content may persist after account deletion if it was shared publicly; however, it will be anonymized. Account deletion removes all personally identifiable information within 30 days.

7. Your Rights and Choices

  • Account Deletion: You can delete your account through the App's Settings or by emailing us
  • Notification Preferences: You can manage push notification settings through your device settings
  • Location Access: You can deny location permission; however, the Qibla compass feature will not function without it
  • Camera Permission: You can deny camera access; profile photos and community media uploads will be unavailable
  • Microphone Permission: You can deny microphone access; audio content features will be unavailable
  • Photo Library Permission: You can deny photo library access; selecting images from your library will be unavailable

8. Permissions We Request

  • Location: Used for Qibla compass only. Location data is processed on-device and is not stored on our servers
  • Camera: Used for taking profile photos and community media
  • Microphone: Used for audio content creation
  • Photo Library: Used for selecting images for profile and community content
  • Push Notifications: Optional, used for prayer reminders and community updates
  • Internet Access: Required for core app functionality

9. Children's Privacy

Meva is intended for users of all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without parental consent. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.

Community features should be supervised for minors. We recommend parental guidance for users under 13.

10. International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own through Firebase infrastructure. These countries may have different data protection laws. By using the App, you consent to such transfers.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
